A Little Bit Revealing ...

I haven't mentioned my bathroom for a while and I know you've all been hanging in there with baited breath for the great reveal.

Well ...

It isn't now ...

I know, seriously, how long can one small bathroom take???

The truth is - FOREVER!!!

The thing is, I keep thinking of more things I want to do and I really want to have the damned thing complete but then I get impatient and I want to show you what I've done so far ...

Anyway, all of the painting, woodwork, little bits and bobs HAVE been done and some of the dressing has also been completed so I'm going to share a photo of the bath area.

The bath is in it's own little alcove with a wall along the side, a wall with a window along the back and a third wall at the tap end which is the side wall of the shower cubicle so it is enclosed on three sides.

This is where the inspiration came from to give it a municipal baths kind of feel  (not forgetting the workshop element).

This is how the bath area looks at the moment.

The three taps were originally a set of hooks that I picked up in Dunn Elm and SD sawed the hooks off just leaving the taps.

The retro garage print came from Ebay and the hot bath sign from The Range.  The set of three pictures hanging at the end was something I already had and they kind of go as they have a rustic look but I'm not sure if they will be staying.

I had talked about maybe edging the tiles around the bath with something but I think it suits it better just to leave it how it is.

NOW ...

A couple of extra projects I have started and which are holding things up a little ...

I picked this cupboard up on Ebay really cheaply.  I'd decided I wanted a free standing cupboard to keep things in rather than something built in.

I would have LOVED something like this:

But they are WAY out of my price range ...

So far the cupboard looks like this:

It's been sanded down and given a coat of undercoat - more on that at a later date ...

I also had this in my bathroom already:

It's a large bamboo laundry basket with a lid but I've never used it for laundry, it's always sat next to the bath and been used as more of a table.

It doesn't fit into the bathroom as it is but I have BIG plans for it which will either be a total triumph or a complete disaster, I really don't know which yet.

The transformation has begun and at the moment it looks like this:

Yep, just a coat of undercoat but I'm working on it! (really wish I'd emptied or moved those pots ...).

There are still lots of things to go up in the bathroom, some were Birthday presents so there hasn't been time yet but we will get there ... eventually ...

I'll post again after the weekend when hopefully both the cupboard and the laundry basket thing will be finished.  Who knows, there maybe more on the walls too ...

It is looking good!

I would so knock the wheels off that cabinet and screw it onto a wall. But to paraphrase that great TV artist Bob Ross,

"It's your cabinet, put it where you want it."

If your bathroom is ever actually finished does something happen like the world stops turning...it;s been going so long I am seriously worrying now that it is actually part of the natural order...please just keep painting.

Ha ha Joe, SD would probably like to do that too! I don't know what it is about built in stuff that really doesn't do it for me but i like my furniture free standing.

Harsh K, very harsh - no cakey for you today! I WILL finish it, promise. I've already bought the paint for the dining room so you have that to look forward too soon too!

I always mean to take to projects like these and the never seem to get round to it, so good for you! I have so many pieces of furniture that need a lick of paint.

I talk the talk a lot too Holly but every now and then I do actually get around to doing stuff. Painting furniture (and making it look good) is fun but harder than I always think it's going to be. I'm getting on with that laundry basket thing though and I think it's going to come as a bit of surprise when it's finished.

I was just thinking the other day, "We haven't heard how Sarah's bathroom is coming along." I can see you have more vision than I do, because I couldn't see anything but an old cupboard until you put the first coat of paint on it. Transformed. But why do you need an old-fashioned drill thing in the bathroom? I'm sure I'm going to be sorry I asked.

So...I'm guessing that the general public has gone unwashed while your municipal bath is under construction?

That coat of paint made ALL the difference didn't it Mike ;-) - That's a fence post drill thingy (I think) and obviously I'm going to hang it on the wall!

Luckily the shower has been unaffected Val or we would all be a bit whiffy ...

Ooh you have been busy! Even more reveals to look forward to now! You tease! xxx

I have Emma Kate and I'm SO excited! There's lots more to show very soon. Some things have gone up on the walls and I'm working on the cabinet and the laundry bin right now but I'm taking my time so I get them right. Hopefully by the end of the week I'll be able to show you the finished bathroom xxx

Top tip: when you do a room reveal, adjust the light setting on the photos so that it's bathed in sunshine. EVERYONE does this on before and afters. Even telly programmes. It makes everything awesome. (I'm sure it will be anyway!) xxx

I was feeling generous Emma Kate so I decided to share your tip ;-) xxx
