I don't know if it's just me or if it's happening to anyone else but I've suddenly lost a lot of followers.
17 since Christmas to be precise!
10 went overnight and the rest in dribs and drabs since then.
It's odd ...
I mean, losing the odd one or two here and there is normal but 17 in just a few weeks?
I'd like to think it's a fault with blogger. I have had people re-follow Fudge in the past because somehow they have lost their following status but that's just a couple of people (that I know of) in the past 5 years.
Since then even people I'm pretty sure have given up blogging haven't actually unfollowed me so I'm confused.
Has this ever happened to you?
IS this happening to you right now??
I've googled to see if there is some kind of problem but can't see anything that helps so if there is a problem then I don't know how to fix it.
Maybe people HAVE just moved on or are bored with Fudge, I really don't know.
Any thoughts?
Ok, update: since I logged on this morning I have lost 4 more followers, 2 just after I logged in and another 2 in the few minutes since I published this post - something is NOT right!

Hi Sarah! It's Di (LoobyLou) just to say I left a comment on your query about losing followers (on the Blogger Forum). Cutting a long story short it's 'cos followers MUST be using a Google account - previously they could follow using Yahoo and other OpenID accounts. This has been bubbling up since December - and probably much earlier when we began having issues with our commenting.
I'm losing followers too - but what's even worse to me is that am also being removed from blogs I follow. This isn't being done by the blog owners - and I do use a Google account, always have done! Might well turn out to be a glitch in some revised code they've rolled out - but I doubt, even if they correct it, whether we'll get those followers back unless (like I've done) they spot that they're no longer following a particular blog and sign up to follow once again. This morning I would say that one in two of every blog I've visited has me missing as a follower! /sigh - blogger strikes again :(

Hi Sarah
It's Di again. I read a little bit of your blog and although I'm more into crafting with paper I thought it would be fun to follow you. So, I just added myself - and oddly enough the process was a little different to when I've been re-adding myself to the blogs I've disappeared from! In both cases I started out as not following but on your blog it was the normal process to follow that appeared. With the other blogs it was slightly different to get to where I wanted to be - which really does make me feel even more strongly that blogger have dropped a bit of a 'boo-boo' with their recent tinkering! I know of another route I can follow to see if I can get any help so will contact the chap and see what he says.
xx
Thanks Di, it's good to know what the problem is even if there is nothing we can do about it! How disappointing though especially for small blogs like my own where you really notice every person. Although I suppose it must be happening on a bigger scale for bigger blogs ... I have a Google account too but I'll be keeping an eye on the blogs I follow to make sure I'm not removed from them. Lets hope they get this sorted ASAP. Thank you again for taking the time to answer my query on the forum and stopping by to make sure I got the message, it's very much appreciated!
Funnily enough I was just visiting your blog and added myself. I'm a bit of a crafter from time to time (although not nearly as professional as you) and it's always lovely to have new ideas and see what people are up to!
Hoping any of my friends out there who are using blogger read this so if they are having a similar problem then at least they will know why!
Thanks for this. I've been losing followers as well, but since I know many of my followers do not actually follow I just let it go. I have also noticed that I get very few new followers. I used to get new followers regularly, now it is very rare. I think much of that is a general decline in interest in blogging.
Hi sweet lady...there is nothing we can do...I lost over 500 followers since December...301 just last evening...I have over 5883 followers so it does not matter if you are small blog or larger, we note every follower ... it is nothing personal..blogger has eliminated anyone who followed us that did not have a google address....So they are gone, never to be added again, unless they open up a google account...Sadly this affects many of us....
we just have to move forward together xx
Hey Joe, glad you've got an explanation now too. I haven't had many new followers recently either but I wonder if that's partly my own fault. I tend to stick with the blogs I'm already following and don't look for new ones so I guess others don't get to know me either.
Hi Mdm Samm, thanks for stopping by, it is nice to know it isn't anything personal and I appreciate that it's disappointing for everyone no matter how big or small their blog is. Although I now understand the what I really don't still get the why. I can't see what the advantage is to the blogger by doing this. As you say, we just have to accept it and move forward xx
Hi Sara, I've never had many followers so I can't really offer any ideas. Perhaps it's post New Year inertia, they might be back by Feb x
me again, I've just read the other comments. I don't really understand the technical bits, but I hope Google sort it and you get your followers back.
Yes! I'm losing them, too! One here, one there, and then FOUR last night! I figured I must have written something offensive lately, and they dumped me. But now I know others of you are just as offensive, heh, heh!
When I try to follow new blogs, it wants me to do that Google Friend thing, or Circles, or some such nonsense. I can't remember. I gave up even trying.
I don't think we will get them back by the sounds of it Polly. I don't have a big following either so it is disappointing but that's life I guess. x
I think we all figured that Val ;-) - Mine seems to have settled for now but I'll keep watching it. You may want to check that you haven't been dropped from any blog lists if you don't have a google account as you may start missing blogs you used to follow. I do have a google account - must have set it up at some point but I don't remember when or why but without one you may find you are no longer following blogs on Blogger at some point.
Well you have another now because I think you're funny. So there :)
Debs
Thank you Debs - so lovely to have a new follower (especially one who thinks I'm funny :-) ).
