Something’s gotta give Aerosmith

This is my second attempt at this weeks WoW.

The  exercise was to write down the first line of lyrics to your favorite song OR to turn on the radio and write down the first line of lyrics you hear. Set your timer for 5 minutes and write
down the first words that come into your head after writing the prompt.

This isn’t my favourite song and it’s also not the first line of lyrics from a song although it is a recurring theme throughout the song.

It’s a status update from one of my friends on FB.

Possibly it means absolutely nothing to him, it's just a line from a song he likes and there is no hidden message. I don’t know but it’s been playing on my mind ……

For some reason I feel a little uncomfortable hitting the publish button but I'm not sure why so I'm going to do it anyway.

"Does the noise in my head bother you?"

Do you drown it out with your own noise?
Do you hear me?  Do you understand? Do you care, do I count?

Does the noise in my head bother you?

Do you talk a little louder to cover the sound?
Do you know? Do you feel? Do you hurt, do I matter?

Does the noise in YOUR head bother you?

I hear it mixed with mine
I know,  I understand, I care, you count

Does the noise in your head bother you?

It bothers me ..........

That's just fantastic Sarah! (I'm not a big fan of Aerosmith either but what a great prompt for a writing piece!)

I love Steven Tyler, so glad he did Idol this season.

great lyric, we all have distortion of some kind in our head.

I like it. I think it would make an interesting prompt in itself, using a FB status too.

i see that you said you were uncomfortable hitting the publish button.. well kudos to you for actually doing it! seriously! There's definitely some vulnerability when you write and share it with others. great work i loved it!

Thanks Anne, it was just one of those thing that caught my eye and stayed with me, it made me think. xx

I don't listen to Aerosmith a lot Todd but sometimes turning it up full blast can be quite cathartic.

It IS a great lyric. Strange to think that everybody else probably has all this stuff going on inside that you just can't see from the outside but, just occasionally, you tune in to someone else's noise.

I thought that Naomi, may be Gill will add it to her list. Sometimes people post things on FB and we never know the reason behind it but we can wonder.

Thank you SFC, I suppose what made me hesitate was that I was taking someone else's thoughts and putting my own spin on them. Maybe reading things into it that didn't exist in their head. I've posted several things lately that have made me feel a little vunerable but I haven't seriously regretted any of them so far. I'm glad you like it, thank you!

Back for more! The FB posting idea is a goodie. It is a curious thing to wonder what's inside other's minds.

oooh, yes! Consider it added to my list. Very very pleased to be getting prompts from everyone playing along. It makes it feel more like a real group which I love.

I wonder if you were apprehensive to publish because of the vulnerability? I think it is an interesting piece of writing, I liked the rhythm of it and I agree with Todd's comment about all having distortion. Great work

I liked this Sarah, it's a great lyric to work from - it could mean many different things to different people, glad you did hit the publish button!

The circular, symmetrical poetry of this piece is so strong that, at first, I wasn't even sure where the lyric finished and your piece started (I'm not familiar with the song, itself). I really enjoyed reading this, it feel as if I was being whirled around like a leaf on a gusty day! Well done!

Thanks Suzi, it did make a really great prompt and, as you say, it could apply to anyone in any respect really.

That's exactly how I hoped it would come across Sif, the confusion tempered with the symmetry. Chaos and understanding. Thank you!
